Tek Infektion
Biography:
A Dj saved my life. That's basically the theme of my story.states Rick Simons ( Tek Infektion) I was at a point where nothing mattered to me anymore, which caused me to start down the path of self destruction. I began to take comfort in drugs and alcohol. These things helped to aleviate my pain. Or so I thought. I then began going to parties and raves with some friends and that is where it all began. The instant I heard this sound, I fell in love with it. The dj playing at the time became a very good friend of mine, and a mentor in all that I know of DnB. He introduced me to this sound that has become an integral part of my being, and for that I owe him. My close friend, and mentor Dj Decay. If it weren't for this guy, I wouldn't be where I am today. I began producing sometime in the winter of 1999. I had no desire to learn to Dj at the time. I only wanted to create. I felt that if I was to do something, it wouldn't be by playing other people's music, it would be by creating my own. It became more of an obsession, than a hobby, and caused me to sacrifice quite a bit. I do not regret. I set forth on a quest to learn all that I could about sound design, and synthesis. I spent the last eight or so years learning all that I could about sound creation, and since I felt that DnB was really pushing the boundaries when it came to sound design and dynamics, I felt that it was my calling card. It was in my blood. It was no longer just a sound, but a form of therapy. It soothed my soul. A Dj saved my life, and I am extremely grateful for that. I made a promise to myself at the time I began producing that if I hadn't released one tune by the time I was 26, I would give it up. Then it happened. Chain Reaction ( Silentkiller vs. Tek Infektion - Urban Revolt EP, 2005) was the first tune released on what is now the defunct Outbreak LTD label, followed by Inside Your Mind ( Mumblz 'n Tek Infektion - Outbltd029, 2005). After that, the releases just kept coming. I formed the group Arsenic with my friend and now roommate Point of Reference, and we have since made quite the impact on the scene. Our first tune was originally signed to Outbreak with talks of doing an artist EP before the label crashed. Shortly afterwards, we caught alot of interest from other labels. Distrbd, Sinous, Evol Intent, Freak, Algorhythm... Just to name a few. I then had my first solo interest from Close 2 Death recordings. Bloodbath followed by No Pain would be released on this label. I see a good future for arsenic as well as myself.
